Chassé Hotel Residency ****

🎢 A staycation in a former church in Amsterdam-East. After years of vacancy and decay, the building was purchased in 2011, with the intention of giving the beloved church back to the neighbourhood, albeit in a new form. The hotel finally opened its doors in 2023, preserving the church’s historical character. The interiors are low-key and subtly reflect the owner’s Guyanese heritage. The former nave has been transformed into a theatre, now a versatile space for events, performances, weddings, and cultural gatherings. Expect soft daylight, fluffy pancakes, and crispy bacon at breakfast the next morning. Amen to that.
